Paying a Milestone as a Customer
When a project is accepted, the customer needs to pay for the first milestone. Customers can do this when logged in to the marketplace and in the Proposal Details view.
To access this, log in as the customer and from the left menu, go to My Projects.
Navigate to the project proposal that needs to be paid.
From the Proposal Details page, you will be able to see if there is a Milestone ready to pay at the top of the page.
Once you select Pay, this will display a pop up confirming your action.
NOTE: This will replace any products you already have in your cart (including previous milestones added to the cart that were not yet paid). Please ensure you have paid those first before checking out with the milestone.
If you try to add a product to the shopping cart while the milestone is still there, you will encounter a pop up which will confirm if you would like to replace the milestone with the product instead.
Once the milestone is in the cart, you can simply check out as usual. The items in the cart will show the individual Milestone items provided by the vendor, so that customers can see the breakdown for that milestone. The payment method will depend on the marketplace.
NOTE: The customer can still go to the shopping cart page, however they will not be able to modify their cart until they pay the milestone.
When the order is placed, it will be processed like a typical order with each item in the order. You will also be able to view the associated invoice with this from the My Orders section of the Customer Account from the front end. Typically after payment, the order status will be set to Complete.
In the Proposal view, the table will then update with the amount that was paid.
You will then see the Milestones table and Payment History table update with the relevant details
Vendor View
Vendors will be notified of the order via e-mail. They can view the order from the back end of the platform like any other order.
Vendors can also see the Milestone section updated from the Proposal View (under Marketplace Management > Bidding Management > Manage Proposals), which now includes Invoice and Order numbers.
