How to create Downloadable Products

How to create Downloadable Products

A downloadable product is a virtual product that allows Marketplace Owners and Vendors to sell files, such as software, an article or a video.

  1. Log in to Omnyfy Marketplace Backend. On the Admin sidebar, go to Catalog Products

2. The Catalog will open a list of all the products available. To create a new one, click the arrow icon to the right of Add Product and choose the Downloadable Product option.

3. Choose the Attribute set for the new Downloadable Product. You can create a specific attribute set as "Downloadable Product" to set the needed attributes to this product type, or use the Default.

4. Enter the basic information.

  • Enable Product: Maintain the option Yes

  • Product Name: The name of the product

  • SKUGenerally the SKU will be created from the name, however each vendor should have a unique identifier that includes either their Vendor ID or initials of their vendor name at the start - so that it does not match any other potential vendor (otherwise it will just be serialised)

  • Price: Enter the price of the single product

  • Tax Class: Choose between Taxable Goods, None, or if you have your own custom Tax Class

  • Quantity: Enter a positive number. The inventory of the product will not be managed by using this field, but in Inventory management later.

  • Stock Status: Choose In Stock

  • Weight: Always set weight to This item has no weight for downloadable products. This is important and is needed or the later step (Step 9)

  • Change all the other necessary attributes available. Attributes may change depending on the attributes set.

  • Click Save

5. Assign a category for the product. Please note, when assigning a subcategory, all the parents categories need to be marked as well.

6. Open the Content tab.

  • Insert Long Description and Short Description. These descriptions will appear in the product page.

7. Open the Images and Videos Tab.

  • Click Browse to find and select one image for the product. You can insert as many as needed.

  • OPTIONAL: Click Add Video to insert a video for the product. Enter the information needed (URL, Title, Description, Preview Image and assign the role of the video). When complete, click Save to add the video.

8. Open the following tabs ONLY if you need to change a specific Default value:

  • Subscriptions by Stripe: Only use this if you will be charging customers for a subscription (Eg a membership). Leave blank otherwise.

  • Scheduled Re-purchase: Enable to allow re-purchase

  • Enable Enquiry: Enable to allow enquiries about the product

    • Links

      • Title: This is the title of the download for the customers. Change if needed.

      • Links can be purchased separately: If the product consists of more than one file, this option determines whether the product is sold as one single download or customers can purchase each separately. To allow customers to purchase separately check the box.

    • Samples

      • Title: This is the title of the sample for the customers. Change if needed.

        NOTE:
Links are the product itself, for example software or an article, and will be available only after the purchase. Vendors can add samples for customers to try the product.

        NOTE
: The files for downloadable products can link to a server or be uploaded to the Marketplace server.

10. Click Add Link in the Links section. Enter the information about the product.

  • Title: The name of the link

  • Price: Will only be available if you checked the option "Links can be purchased separately"

  • File: Choose between Upload File (and then Browse Files) or URL

  • Sample: To provide separate samples for each download add the Sample, alternatively, to provide one overall Sample add it in the next step
